We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team and support our financial operations.
Job Summary:
The Part-Time Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with district policies and state regulations. This role is critical in supporting the financial health of our school district and will work closely with the finance department, school administrators, and other staff members.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of office procedures, equipment and practices.
- Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Strong computer and typing skills, with proficiency in various software/ management applications.
- Ability to follow complex instructions, prioritize work, multi-task, and solve problems independently.
- Ability to make accurate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to answer questions in person or over the telephone and handle telephone calls tactfully and courteously.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Strong organizational skills.
- Education/Training/Experience: High School Diploma with at least 3 years bookkeeping/payroll experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Verifies and processes student activities deposits.
2. Assists in verification of unencumbered balance, proper coding, and posting of purchase orders.
3. Assists in maintaining financial records.
4. Assists with the preparation of monthly and annual state reports as needed for School Nutrition Programs.
5. Answers Business Office telephones and directs calls as required.
6. Carries out other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Business Operations.
While not an all-inclusive list, the following are typical specific tasks of the Bookkeeper/Student Activity.
1. Maintains the Student Activity Fund on a daily basis for all revenue and expenses districtwide.
2. Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly run office.
3. Drafts routine correspondence independently.
4. Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
5. Maintains a regular filing system and processes incoming correspondences as directed.
6. Performs office mail duties.
