Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the ocean front. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization. VBPC currently has a Full-Time Nurse Clinical Manager position available.

The following are the job requirements for the Full-time Nurse Clinical Manager position:
- Provides assistance and support to the Chief Nursing Office in the management and support of the Nursing Department and supervising its staff.
- Assists in providing 24-hour management of the nursing service and in directing/supervising nursing department activities/functions which encompass Acute Care and Partial Hospitalization programs for age population served by the hospital.
- Assists in developing, maintaining and modifying program policy and procedure parameters for quality assurance.
- Assists in assuring unit milieu is therapeutic and physically safe and secure at all times. Assesses, plans implements, conducts and evaluates nursing care rendered to patients.
- Consults routinely with the Chief Nursing Officer, CEO and with the Medical Director on an as needed basis.
- Prior adult psychiatric or chemical dependency experience and supervisory/management experience required.
- Must possess knowledge of basic psychiatric nursing procedures working with a general population including adults and chemically dependent individuals.
- Knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit setting, behavior management and establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships required.
- Responsible for full unit operation including interviewing, hiring, and termination process.
- Staffing: implementation and evaluation of nursing care for psychiatric and chemically dependent patients
- Assist in the professional growth and development of nursing staff, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization.
- This position is responsible for planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems when needed.
Education/Training:
- Bachelors of Science from an accredited college or University.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility treating, mentally ill, or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co-occurring disorders, and Cultural Linguistic Diversity amongst patients.
- Must have supervisory experience, preferably one (1) year or more
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Virginia Registered Nurse License
- Current CPR Certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent
