We are seeking a Motivated and Experienced Manager to join our Growing Team to oversee our California Auto Group’s Financial Management.
The Corporate Controller will work closely with the CFO and business office team to execute the accounting function across all dealerships. You are a well-organized individual who is passionate about the financial process. You work well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and want to learn more about all aspects of the business. You have a keen attention to detail, and you are adept at balancing multiple projects at the same time. You are a self-starter, and you see things through to completion - no job is too big or too small. You are an excellent communicator, relationship builder and develop and maintain strong professional relationships with both internal and external partners. You are passionate about being part of a team and lead by example as a mentor, guide, and supervisor.
Compensation: $250K - $300K (base+bonus)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Financial Reporting:
-
Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements), ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.

Ensure financial statements are completed monthly according to dealership guidelines and the manufacturer's format and time frame.

Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Accounting Operations:
-
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, budgets, and actual expenditures.
-
Maintain industry best practices for optimizing working capital and the conversion of receivables into cash.
-
Payroll Oversight: Manage and optimize payroll processes for dealership staff.
Internal Controls and Compliance:

Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.
Leadership and Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.

Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Financial Analysis and Strategy:

Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc., when necessary.

Assist the CFO in developing and managing financial policies and procedures.

Participate in the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner.
Systems and Process Improvement:

Oversee and manage all accounting system upgrades and implementations.

Evaluate and improve accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Ensure that record-keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
Other:
-
Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with other departments (sales, service, etc.) to align financial goals.

Communication: Regularly report the financial condition of the total dealership to the dealer/general manager.

Maintains a professional appearance.

Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is required.

Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management role. Automotive retail industry experience highly preferred.
