The MPD Field Technician will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and calibration of MPD equipment, encompassing valves, lines, chokes, and instrumentation, following company standards. The role includes troubleshooting software and hardware issues on-site and remotely, while conducting preventive maintenance checks, and actively participating in field support and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair, overhaul, and pressure testing where appropriate, all MPD equipment including lines, valves, chokes, instrumentation, and hydraulic systems as per company standards
- Troubleshoot software, firmware, and hardware problems both on site and remotely
- Inspect all equipment used and perform preventive maintenance checks and service
- Maintain company issued tools and develop knowledge and skill in their use
- Extensive travel to customer’s locations and field support of on-going operations will be required
- Install, function test, and operate the MPD Control System on rigs
- Calibrate, document, troubleshoot, and repair/replace instrumentation for systems that measure and control level, temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables
- Perform maintenance and system checks on the MPD equipment
- Document and report all equipment problems, maintenance, repairs, and transfers
Required Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of field service experience
- First Aid Certification
- H2S Certification
- Forklift Certification
- Fall Arrest Certification
- Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
- Mechanically inclined and able to implement mechanical knowledge and skill
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Able to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines requiring minimal supervision
- Organized, dependable and action oriented
Knowledge of:
- Maintenance processes and procedures
- Mechanical tools and equipment
- Electronic, hydraulic and instrumentation systems
- Quality control requirements
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience with API Requirements
- Relevant post secondary education
This position works on a rotational schedule with typical shift lengths of 12 hours and will require travel away from home staying in camp or hotel locations. This position will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
