TBD Solutions Inc Job Posting: Data Scientist Consultant
TBD Solutions Inc (www.tbdsolutions.com) is an employee-owned West Michigan consultancy serving a diverse customer base of governmental, for-profit and non-profit organizations in the health care and social service sector. TBD Solutions provides strategic decision support, analysis, and continuous improvement guidance through an array of professional knowledge enhancement services. A Data Scientist Consultant is being sought to leverage their technical, statistical, and/or data analyst expertise to develop analyses and data products which represent real-world issues and inform critical decisions. Of equal importance, they leverage their interpersonal skills to help TBD Solutions and its clients refine key questions, drive decisions, and evaluate performance. The Data Scientist Consultant will be a member of the Knowledge Services team, report directly to the Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) and work closely with the company’s other consultants.
2 or more years of transforming, analyzing and visualizing large and complex datasets is required, including the use of statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python data science packages, etc.) to develop models, simulations, or other methods to tackle complex problems. The position requires knowledge of healthcare data, such as common taxonomies (e.g., HCPCS/CPT, SNOMED, ICD-10, etc.), with a preference for knowledge of data related to specialty populations associated with TBDS’ core business (e.g., persons recovering from mental illness and/or substance use disorders, youth in foster care and/or receiving treatment for severe emotional disturbances, individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, older adults, etc.). Keen ability to understand and translate clinical and operational processes into analysis and measurement frameworks is needed. Experience working with governmental entities, healthcare, insurance plans or trade associations is preferred.
A master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required, or any combination of 10 or more years conducting advanced analysis with healthcare data and possessing a bachelor’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates with graduate degrees.
Key skills for the Data Scientist Consultant include: Exceptional attention to detail, work ethic and follow-through; technical abilities to expertly perform data cleaning, modeling, analysis, design, testing, development, and implementation; designing and building interactive data visualizations with an understanding of appropriate chart types to highlight different patterns in data; exceptional written and verbal communication to support understanding and drive key decisions; understanding of project management principles; knowledge of cloud computing services; ability to document workflows and relationships using Microsoft Visio or similar tools. This is not an entry level position: The stated work experience is required.
This is a position compensated hourly starting at $78.75 per hour for approved work efforts. Fulltime staff receive healthcare, disability, dental, and vision benefits. Flexibility to occasionally meet obligations outside of normal business hours and occasional travel is compulsory. The company headquarters is near Grand Rapids, Michigan, however, official work location will be home office of employees outside of 60-mile radius. Flextime and off-site work may be offered for proven employees. Screened candidates will be required to take skill assessment tests and score well to receive an interview.
