Are you an innovative, forward-thinker who likes to support and work with other people? Our Cloud9 Cannabis team is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Human Resources Generalist that has a strong passion for supporting others and managing the daily operations of the HR department.
The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with the Director of People and Culture and the Talent Acquisition team on a variety of projects as it relates to the people of Cloud9 Cannabis and our additional teams. This role will be centered aroundassisting with HR processes, compensation and benefits, payroll, onboarding, and various other compliance activities. Overall, this individual will provide functional support to our team members and will support the overall people strategies and key HR processes and initiatives. This role is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced environment that requires a people-centric approach to succeed.
As our HR Generalist, your responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the creation and delivery of HR presentations
- Proficient in employment standards/requirements/legislation for consistency, compliance and efficiency within the organization.
- Provides employee relations support and coaching to associates across all work environments such as attendance, investigations of complaints, and misconduct.
- Stay abreast of competitor’s employee offerings including benefits and compensation to best position us in the work force.
- Assist with company branding, social media presence and overall brand promotion.
- Assist with job description creation, applicant tracking, candidates sourcing, interviewing process/procedures and initial interviews.
- Think critically to help develop and communicate strategies to support business objectives.
- Develop standard operating procedures as it relates to onboarding, training and development.
- Creatively solve business issues through innovation
- Monitor the culture to ensure it supports the attainment of the company’s goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
- Assist in development of supporting materials such as but not limited to: Employee Handbook, training programs, disciplinary documents, employee reviews, employee bonus structure etc.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The HR Generalist role is well-suited for you if you possess:

- Process oriented with a passion for people.
- Prior experience with relationship building, communicating with others, and supporting people preferred.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in business related field, HR, operations, hospitality, management, communications or project management highly preferred.
- Knowledge of the cannabis and gaming industries as it relates to people, compliance, product knowledge, and audits is a PLUS, but not required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a human resources position in a retail environment overseeing multiple locations.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite, GreenLeaf HRIS or similar, Deputy Scheduling Platform etc.
- 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass all required background checks as it pertains to Illinois cannabis laws.
