Plans, organizes, and directs Engineering organization to meet company objectives. The position is responsible for ensuring all the manufacturing processes meet customer specifications.
Uses technical background and skills to develop automotive mat textile constructions and styles compatible with customer and marketing needs in a timely, cost effective, and production feasible manner. Plans and designs methods to improve efficiency in production. This position reviews all manufacturing processes to insure maximum efficiency and use of technology in manufacturing processes.
To bring a technical approach to product development, direct research, and profit activity. To develop other automotive related accessories and demonstrate new product innovation.
This position works directly with personnel at all levels at the Racemark facility as assignments cover the broad spectrum of activity necessary to implement projects (costing, styling, performance, specification, etc.) Purchasing and Quality Assurance rely on this position for the details required to initiate new components into Racemark’s business systems. Also works with facility management, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources and Sales Departments. Communicates and interfaces with Maintenance Team Leaders, and Shift Leads. Main Objectives:
- Manage the development of textile styles and constructions from the concept through evaluation and production implementation.
- Lead continuous improvement teams applying lean manufacturing principles and six sigma problem solving methodologies. Trains and manages these principles within the engineering team.
- Selects correct design concept and fundamental technology for new products or improvement of existing ones.
- Provides direction for company research and development activities.
- Coordinates, directs, and facilitates the Engineering Department in the timely execution of projects.
- Conduct multiple projects to develop new products and processes and improve costs to support sales growth.
- Maintain all files, records, and the progress log.
- Supports scheduled trial run activities for new product launches and sample creation.
- Supports implementation of 5S initiatives as related to the shop floor.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity
- Design, modify, and optimize manufacturing equipment and systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production operations
- Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, blueprints, and work instructions
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new manufacturing projects
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing issues
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5 years of manufacturing environment experience preferred.
- Experience with lean manufacturing in a Tier 1 automotive environment preferred.
- Familiar with automotive manufacturers’ certifications (IATF 16949, CCC, etc.).
- Expertise with Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor Software, Catia V5/6.
- Knowledge of testing requirements for industry including Din and ASTM.
- Ability to read, create and optimize technical drawings.
- Experience with carpet or textile manufacturing and sewing processes.
- Able to perform all aspects of setting up, troubleshooting, and operating the machines.
- Experience with MS Office tools, automotive ERP (Enterprise Resource Programming) systems. Plex preferred. Experience with Customer Portals.
- Demonstration of exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills and able to determine alternative courses of actions.
- Ability to lead and manage projects. Ability to manage a team with a hands on approach of team work.
- Excellent oral and written English communication and presentation skills.
- Strong independent decision-making skills, able to manage-up to prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Knowledge of robot programming and automation systems requirements.
- Experience with industrial equipment and tooling design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
