The Personal Injury Billing Specialist role encompasses a variety of skills and responsibilities linked to obtaining authorization from insurance carriers for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) on behalf of injured workers. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for making sure devices are shipped and billed in an accurate and timely manner for the patient. This role will work with insurances to advocate on behalf of patients to ensure they are getting the care they need. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Main Daily Duties: (90% of Shift)
- Responsible for advocating and obtaining authorizations for the use of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) from Insurance companies (e.g., Adjustors/Nurse Case Managers, TPAs (Third Party Administrators), Insurance Representatives).
- Corresponds daily with patients, insurance representatives, and others via phone call and email in a professional manner.
- Provide requested information to Insurance carriers to include billing/coding support concerning devices, accessories, and supplies for recipients, insurance providers, physicians, and the payer community.
- Negotiate terms of authorization including pricing, length of need, etc.
- Submit clean and accurate claims to insurance companies for payment of all Zynex goods and services.
- Be responsible for maintaining accurate records and providing detailed, professional notes in patient files.
- Review Explanation of Benefits to determine next appropriate steps to seek authorization for patient treatment.
- Operate independently in Zynex’s access database/billing system to complete patient orders with a high degree of accuracy.
Additional Duties:
- Meet daily goals as outlined by Billing Department Manager/Manager.
- Dress and interact professionally in an office environment.
- Follow all company policies and address issues following appropriate chain of command.
- Be present/visible in the home office 5 days/week (M-F), 8 hours/day. Exceptions to this need prior approval from your direct Manager.
- Complete other duties, as assigned by Management.
Future Responsibilities:
As part of the natural growth in this role, the position will evolve to include training responsibilities. This will involve:
- Conducting training sessions for new team members.
- Developing and implementing training materials and programs.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent training standards.
- Identifying improvement opportunities by analyzing common inefficiencies and discrepancies in work processes.
- Conducting Quality Assurance (QA) review utilizing departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Genuine interest in helping people.

- Exceptional communication (written & verbal) skills and Excellent organizational skills.
- Superior phone communication skills with providers, carriers, patients, and trainees.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; College degree beneficial.

Computer Intensive Tasks (95% of shift):

- Technology Proficiency: Utilize office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones, as well as demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Software.
- Repetitious Packaging and Sorting: Regularly engage in packaging and sorting tasks, requiring the ability to consistently organize and categorize documents, devices, and boxes.
- Dynamic Office Environment: Operate in a fast-paced, professional office setting.

- Heavy Lifting: Lift objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
