Overall Purpose Of The Job
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.
The incumbent provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by integrating concepts of Whole Health into their plans. This includes incorporating examination findings with the patient's preferences in order to set clinically appropriate treatment goals, optimize outcomes, optimize functional independence and to actionize concepts of whole person care. The incumbent will ensure the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission and VA Central Office performance measure standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently and comprehensively evaluates a wide variety of patients as appropriate for their diagnosis to determine current levels of function and areas of impairment. Evaluations may include the following areas: activities of daily living, strength, range of motion, sensation, perception, and cognition standardized and non- standardized evaluation tools.
- Implements occupational therapy plans to meet the patient's rehabilitation objectives. Treatment may include functional activities and specific treatment methods and modalities which have as their goal the improvement of patient's activities of daily living, strength, range of motion, sensation, perception, or cognitive status. Treatment may involve the prescription, fabrication, and training in the use of splints and adaptive equipment as well as instructing the patient and/or caregiver in its safe and proper use.
- Trains family members/caregivers in handling of patients.
- Identifies supply and equipment needs and submits requests for ordering and ensuring proper supply inventory levels are maintained.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties within scope as assigned.
Job Profile
Experience Required:
- Graduate of a degree program in occupational therapy approved by the ACOTE or predecessor organizations.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- DEA License
- For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Medical Technician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Current BLS certification. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass a Child abuse and neglect check.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance

Pay: $48.27 - $53.00 per hour
