Pegasus Technologies Inc. is a private aviation management company which provides a moderate, but focused, range of technical services to government and commercial clientele. These technical services include, but are not limited to research, development, test and evaluation of avionics, aircraft systems and components, and test equipment. PTI has successfully capitalized on its robust aviation consulting, advisory, charting and publication services. PTI provides crews and subject matter experts to a number of sites worldwide, most of which are in support of Department of Defense and Department of State contracts.
We are seeking an upper-level accounting professional responsible for processing, reviewing and handling various routine and non-routine day-to-day accounting functions in support of the company’s overall financial objectives. This individual, under the limited supervision of financial leadership, processes, maintains, prepares and presents accurate and timely financial transactions and information that complies with regulatory requirements, accounting principles and industry standards within the organization’s framework of policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Accountant III is primarily responsible for independently handling core accounting functions and working with complex accounting issues. The following duties are examples of assignments performed by this position, but are not a totally comprehensive list of duties, nor are they restrictive regarding job assignments.
1. Handles a wide range of accounting duties that may vary from day-to-day to meet company deadlines and requirements. Flexibility is required and the ability to handle a changing environment is expected.
2. Handles core accounting functions, identifies and resolves complex issues, calculates transactions and maintains subsidiary ledger balances.
3. Processes transactions, works on and heads up projects and analyzes data.
4. Prepares financial statements, reports, schedules, charts and supporting documentation.
5. Prepares journal entries, accruals, allocations and other accounting transactions.
6. Resolves discrepancies with bank, credit card and balance sheet account reconciliations.
7. Processes, maintains and carries out fixed asset accounting.
8. Builds and maintains reports and spreadsheets.
9. Prepares tax return filings
10. Suggests changes in accounting processes and policies.
Skills and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting (or a closely related field) 4 years of relevant hands-on accounting work experience, OR a combination of education and experience that equals at least 8 years of relevant hands-on accounting work experience, college-level education and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
· Must have a strong understanding of general accounting principles and procedures and bookkeeping practices with the ability to quickly learn and utilize new accounting procedures, practices and related software systems/utilities.
· Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
· Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and prepare varied financial data in reports.
· Must have excellent computer skills, including an intermediate to advanced (preferred) level of expertise with MS Excel.
· Ability to perform a variety of complex accounting, budget, and analysis work.
· Ability to research and interpret accounting policies and regulations, identify the impact on the organization and make recommendations.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding work performed, as well as protect company proprietary information.
· Must have strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects.
· Must have strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills as well as excellent technical, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all personnel and management.
· Oracle NetSuite and SAP Concur experience is preferred.

Pay: $66,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
