Visitor Services Associate
Located in downtown St. Augustine, the Lightner Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization registered in the State of Florida. The Visitor Services Associate is the first point of contact for visitors to the Lightner, responsible for daily admission sales; sales in the museum store; and conveying general information about the museum and its exhibitions to the visiting public.
Your Day-to-day Work
· Facilitates daily ticket sales for admission to museum.
· Responsible for promoting museum membership and assisting with new membership transactions and renewals.
· Present a welcoming environment for visitors.
· Introduce museum guidelines to visitors.
· Use best practices to secure museum galleries and enforce museum safety guidelines.
· Retrieve merchandise from stock room.
· Price merchandise for retail.
· Assist customers with purchases from museum store.
· Assist with special events as needed.
· Assist with programming and tour support as needed.
· Assist with the flow of visitors into museum spaces at entry and exit points.
· Maintains attendance records by using the museum's database management system (Altru).
· Answers questions regarding the museum's collections, exhibitions, and events.
· Fulfills end of shift closing procedures.
What you bring
· Must have a minimum of a high school diploma
· Customer service and cash handling experience
· Familiarity with operating a Point-of-Sale system
· A willingness to learn about the museum, its history, and collections
· Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays (we are closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
