POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a full-time Construction Estimator for one of our North Houston locations to join our energetic and dynamic team. The Construction Estimator is responsible for responsible for creating estimates in Xactimate utilizing the program guidelines and IICRC standards. They must be detailed oriented and understand all aspects of the insurance restoration industry. Having a construction background which includes understanding of various types of building construction and materials. Understanding how materials can be affected by wind, water, fire, smoke, and other property damage causes will assist in being successful in this position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect and prepare accurate estimates onsite.
- Document loss with clear and descriptive job photos, enter dates, and upload into 365.
- Writes reconstruction estimates using Xactimate and other estimating software as needed.
- Communicates conversations and key information on the job using our client management system
- Estimates using carrier standards and manages the estimate based on feedback from client and customer.
- Communicates with project managers/coordinators to ensure all required documentation is complete (photos, notes and documents signed)
- Acquires needed sub bids for specialty items.
- Adjust labor and equipment costs when needed.
- Communicate w/ insurance companies, and adjusters via phone and email in a timely manner and acts as a liaison
- Upload estimate documents into our client management system
- Review quotes and estimates with the construction project team
- Addresses estimate exceptions in a timely manner
- Complete files upon completion and turn in in a timely manner for invoicing.
- Prepares change orders and supplements.
- Explain the repair process to homeowner and when payments are due.
- Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION
- Must have 2 yrs. minimum experience in using Xactimate software required.
- High school graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of insurance restoration and/or construction industry.
- Valid Drivers’ License and satisfactory driving record.
- Able to work independently or work with/lead a team.
- Exhibit professionalism, maturity, and the willingness to serve the customer.
- Experience managing teams of 2 or more.
- Experience with entering data using a tablet, laptop, or mobile phone.
- Strong verbal and written and communication skills.
- Strong problem solving, and customer service skills.
- Must be able to prioritize activities and meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- Move up to 75 pounds, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Lifting, squatting, crawling and crouching may be required.
- Express or exchange ideas with others and receive and act on detailed information given.
- For safety reasons, respirators, which are used in certain situations, must be able to seal to your face.
- Inside and outside working conditions: The change of environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
