Lead Project Engineer
Location: Orlando, FL
Job Description:
This position requires experience in managing medium to large-scale heavy civil projects (budgets of $30M+). Knowledge and background in roadway, airport, and concrete paving projects are highly desirable, with underground construction experience considered an advantage.
This role involves reviewing contracts and specifications thoroughly to ensure compliance and accurate project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer, offering support when needed.
- Assist in schedule preparation and updates.
- Contribute to quantity reporting, project cost analysis, and forecasting.
- Manage communications with subcontractors and vendors, including obtaining pricing for change orders.
- Coordinate equipment and material deliveries by issuing requisitions.
- Resolve project challenges and conflicts by coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce.
- Oversee document control, including submittal schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings.
- Review daily reports for accuracy using the Heavy Job system.
- Maintain technical submittal list, NPDES permits, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, and Project Progress Schedule.
- Ensure compliance with inspection processes, survey staking, joint measurements, utility locations and adjustments, testing, claims, etc.
- Issue correspondence to subcontractors and vendors regarding revised plans and specifications.
- Assist with project closeout.
- Undertake additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM).
- 3-5+ years of experience in the civil construction field, combining office and field positions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Primavera 6.
