Job Purpose
The Education & Training Specialist is a traveling trainer and consultant with specialized knowledge regarding the current principles, techniques and instrumentation used in supporting and accommodating the needs of children 0-18 years old with disabilities and challenging behaviors that are served in out-of-school time programs. The specialist provides support to early childhood teachers and inclusion facilitators, front line staff, program and/or training and curriculum specialists, and various leadership to ensure that children with and without disabilities are being fully, meaningfully included in out-of-school time programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· General Administration
o Travel nationally and internationally to early childhood, school age and out-of-school time programs, often located on US military installations, to conduct training and observations and provide verbal and written coaching and recommendations to staff to support the inclusion of children with and without disabilities.
o Present inclusive program curriculum to groups of 10 to 75, utilizing the latest technology in both live and online modalities.
o Deliver an allotment of approximately 60-80 training days annually.
o Schedule site visits and coordinate lodging and travel logistics for assigned site visits in alignment with KIT Travel Policy.
o Understand all military branches policies regarding inclusion. Provide training covering disability and behavior support aligned with military branch specific operating guidance.
o Conduct strategy sessions with leadership to review and explain detailed policy found in military branch specific Behavior Guidance and Inclusion Standards.
o Develop and recommend implementation of positive behavioral support plans to improve behavioral outcomes.
o Receive phone calls and emails from early childhood staff and school aged and youth providers concerning challenges in their teaching environments. Consult and furnish them with verbal and written strategies for supporting children with and without disabilities in their programs and include reliable and ethical resources outside of KIT when appropriate.
o Ensures recommendations are representative of diverse population groups, emerging subpopulations, and are culturally aware.
o Provide detailed written reports with recommendations for accommodating all children and develop a plan for implementing the accommodations following site visits, support center calls and management sessions.
o Site Visit After Action report drafts are due for review within 5 business days following visit completion and submitted to client via email within 10 business days of completion of visit.
o Use Salesforce to input data including training attendance, training sessions, travel logistics, agenda, and consultations as required for all site visits. Attach reports in Salesforce in a timely and accurate manner.
o Contribute to the development of new inclusive program content which may include webinars, tools and tip sheets, training modules, etc.
o Establish positive, responsive, effective relationships with contracted and partner organizations.
o Assist with other projects in KIT priority program areas.
o Maintain client confidentiality and preserve integrity of KIT records and documents.
o Attends regular Program Team meetings, monthly KIT staff meetings and other meetings remotely, as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
§ Bachelor’s Degree– Required (Masters, credential or certification in special education, child or youth development preferred)
Requirements
§ Valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicle and proof of insurability
§ Valid passport for international travel
§ Live within 30 miles of a major international airport
Experience
§ Extensive experience with behavior support, modifications, and accommodations for children with challenging behaviors across settings, especially within an out-of-school environment
§ Special education, child or youth development background
§ Experience providing inclusive programs to children
§ Demonstrated ability in working with and training adults, leadership, front line staff, children, boards of directors and families
§ Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
§ Sophisticated understanding of inclusion, and ability to translate the understanding in a variety of modalities to a variety of types of audiences
§ Experience with military child care programs or DoDEA is a plus
§ Bilingual is a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; use hands to hold objects, writing instruments, the telephone, or files; talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Good physical health and stamina needed to conduct training and consultations on site visits 8-12 hours per day. In-person site visits include navigating extensive travel days nationally and internationally with multiple modes of transportation.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
