VIP IT, Inc., a dynamic Managed IT Services Provider (MSP) with a growing presence in Los Angeles and across several states, offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated System Administrator to join our team.
About the Role:
We're seeking a self-starter with a passion for technology and a knack for problem-solving. This position is ideal for a transitioning entry to mid-level professional who thrives in a corporate environment, enjoys working closely with small to medium businesses, and is comfortable troubleshooting a variety of technologies. This hybrid position will require 1-2 days, or as needed, at our office in Glendale, CA. The candidate must live in or near Los Angeles. On-call is mandatory and rotates weekly through the entire company. All technical staff is on call, including the Vice President of Operations, and the on-call is paid. This position reports directly to the Service Desk Manager.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Providing help desk support for computers, servers, applications, etc.
Providing onsite support to customers when needed in Los Angeles, other areas of California, and possibly out of state.
Administering Microsoft 365
Monitoring and resolving system alerts
Setting up networking equipment from providers like Meraki, SonicWALL, and Cisco
Working on various IT projects
Responsibility for allocated tickets, which involves prioritization, communication, and adherence to SLAs
Writing and executing PowerShell / batch scripts used within our RMM
Document technical support cases and keep in touch with the Service Desk Manager.
Be available during on-call shift for emergencies for managed customers.
Technical Skills:
Hardware and Software: PC/Mac, MS Office, QuickBooks, Dell Servers and Workstations (Dell/Lenovo/HP)
Hosted VoIP phones, Windows and macOS Operating Systems
Networking equipment from providers such as HP, SonicWall, Cisco, Meraki
Solid networking skills including routers, firewalls, VPN, switches, wireless, VLAN, and QoS
Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019, Windows 10/11
Backup & Recovery tools such as VEEAM, Synology HyperBackup
Active Directory, DNS and Group Policies, VPN, Terminal Services, Print Management
Virtualization (VMWare ESXi/Hyper-V)
Business Application Support (Office 365, G Suite, SaaS, Sage, QuickBooks)
Email Migration/Implementation/Security (Hosted Exchange/Office 365, G Suite)
Synology (NAS), CLI (PowerShell, SSH, TelNet)
Basic understanding of Linux and storage technologies like NAS/SAN
Qualifications & Experience:
3-6 years of full-time IT experience
Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field preferred, but not required
Experience in an MSP environment is a plus
High emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and the ability to self-manage
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to manage conflicts
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel occasionally for work, including out of state
Ability to maintain a quiet, distraction-free home workspace
Ability to work from our Glendale office when needed
Capability to take on leadership roles and work collaboratively within a team
