Regionally and nationally recognized defense litigation firm is in search of a Legal Assistant for our Medical Malpractice group. We offer a competitive compensation package, including merit-based bonuses, generous paid time off policies, and a 401(k)/profit sharing plan.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced civil litigation environment. Candidate must be detail-oriented and type at least 60 wpm with minimal errors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to multiple attorneys
- Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and partners
- Draft and prepare various employment agreements and forms
- Transcription
- Prepare and file legal documents, such as appeals, motions or petitions in state and federal courts
- Open new files, including conflict checks and engagement letters
- Enter attorney time in time and billing system
- Maintaining attorney calendars
- Case list management and monthly reports utilizing Excel
- Create PowerPoint presentations
- Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders
Required Skills:
- Proficient in transcription
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel
- Proficient in Adobe
- Knowledge of legal terminology and court system regulation
- Outstanding time-management and typing skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
