Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist, under the supervision of the Director of Operations & IT Coordinator, performs routine maintenance duties at both the West & East Campuses of Beacon Academy of Nevada. Responsibilities revolve around general maintenance, minor construction projects, orderliness, OSHA compliance, and cleanliness in the organization to ensure that facilities and equipment are in good shape at all times for faculty, staff and students. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist works to guarantee the safety of individuals by fixing equipment and maintaining a facility that is clear of hazards.
Terms of Employment: 12 Months per Contract of Employment; 32 - 40 hours per week
Salary: The compensation for this position is in alignment with the BANV Governing Board approved Salary Schedule; Salary Schedule based on years’ experience and degree held. Compensation for all positions are determined by the Governing Board and Administration of Beacon Academy. Consideration is given for experience and specialized skills in determining salary.
Salary Range: $15.00 - $25.00 hour
Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and light repairs (e.g. hanging wall mounted hand sanitizer dispensers, mounting classroom whiteboards, replacing emergency exit lights, etc.)

Repair and paint damaged or marked walls; drywall/plaster repair and painting

Undertake small carpentry projects.

Repair equipment, furniture and/or appliances; furniture assembly and relocation
-
Assemble desks, rolling carts, etc.

Assist with moving office furniture.

Perform routine plumbing repairs to fix minor plumbing works that may arise from time to time. (e.g. leaking faucets, clogged drains, flush floor drains, etc.)

Perform routine low voltage electrical repairs (e.g. outlet cover replacement, replace GFI outlets, etc.).

Changing lights and/or fixtures (e.g. emergency exit lights, etc.)

Battery replacement in alarm systems, lighting systems, etc.

Fix doors in the organization and change locks, if necessary.

Repair electrical gadgets.
-
Troubleshoot general problems.

Repair and replace general hardware.
-
Assist contractors and vendors with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs
-
Identify and report the need for major repairs.

Completion of Monthly Facility Inspections at both the West Campus and East Campus as required under the Written Workplace Safety Program.

Complete any identified areas in need of repair as identified in the Monthly Facility Inspection.

Perform routine landscaping and trash pick-up on the grounds; grounds and security maintenance (fencing, gate arms, and gate repairs.

Responsible for inventory of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE’s) for both the East & West Campuses; maintaining perpetual inventory logs - damaging out broken FFE’s and adding new purchases.

Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g. boarding up broken windows, etc.).

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent qualification required.

A minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a similar role.

May require the use of own personal tools and equipment.

OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred

Requires a background check for employment

Solid experience with plumbing and electrical systems.

Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.

Extremely organized with good communication skills.

Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving.
