We are a growing Ear, Nose, and Throat practice in South Denver looking for a motivated Surgery Scheduler to join our team and assist with coordinating our busy surgical schedule. POSITION SUMMARY:
Our practice prides itself on providing the highest standard of medical care in a personal, caring, and professional atmosphere. Our Surgery Scheduler supports that mission by providing excellent customer service and meetings the scheduling needs of our surgical patients. Day to day activities include:
- PRIMARY: FACE-TO-FACE scheduling of surgical patients during normal business hours
- Provide initial, detailed surgery estimates to patients
- Perform surgery confirmation calls two weeks in advance
- Perform post op patient calls within 2 business days
- Perform follow up phone calls to pending surgical patients
- Answer pre-operative direct line phone calls for surgical patients
- Create a "Follow Up Tickler System" for pending surgical cases
- Coordinate and confirm surgical assistants when applicable
SKILLS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Strong computer skills are required
- Skill and accuracy in typing and spelling is required
- High organizational skills, multitasking, and clear communication is needed
- Schedules all surgical procedures at appropriate hospital or surgery center
- Schedules any necessary pre-op or post op visits
- Schedules any necessary surgical instrumentation as requested by the physician
- Schedules and coordinates with any assistant or co-surgeon as necessary
- Ensures patient consents for surgery are completed
- Ensures surgery financial policy is explained to the patient, and makes arrangements for prepayment for self-pay patients
- Prepares surgery information packets
JOB TYPE:
- Full-Time Position (40 hours)
- Hours of Operation are Monday through Thursday, 8 am – 5 pm; Friday 8 am - 3:30 pm
EDUCATION:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required
- Two years prior experience in a medical practice is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience with procedure and diagnostic scheduling
- Previous experience with insurance verification and billing preferred
- Ability to exercise good judgement and utilize customer service.
- Ability to interact well with patients and staff members and to remain calm under
the stress of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Medical Terminology including CPT-4 procedure coding and ICD-9 diagnostic coding preferred
