Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Support Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative and clinical support in a remote and blended service (primary care, urgent care and occupational health) medical setting, ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient care.
Duties: Administrative
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule patient appointments, reminders, patient intake forms and maintain calendars
- Assist with medical record and patient payment management and documentation
- Handle billing and insurance claims processing including coding.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office environment
- Check eligibility for coverage and collect fee applicable to visit type and procedure.
- Validate payment and fee collected each day to ensure accuracy.
- Adhere to HIPAA, IT security and other health and safety protocols.
Duties: Clinical
- Serve as a medical technician to support the clinical team with comprehensive care to patients of all ages within the scope of practice within the CA and approval by Yosemite Medical Clinic Medical Director.
- Provide complete patient care service from pre-visit, during visit, discharging and follow-up care: patient screening, evaluation of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and other intake and clinical assessment procedures .
- Utilizes diagnostic tools such as a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, peak flow meter, glucometer, etc.,
- Prepare complete patient's records prior to visit and obtain follow up records from other services including.
- Prepare referral package for the Nurse Case Management Team and assist with tracking and updating status as an active member of the care team.
Experience:
- Must have clinical training and experience with appropriate certificate such as the NREMT, CNA or MSA certification.
- Prior experience in a primary care, urgent or out patient clinic is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and administrative procedures.
- Proficiency in using medical office software for scheduling, recordkeeping and fee collection.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal abilities.
