Assistant Manager of the Thalypo C-Store
Summary: The employee is expected to assist with the management of daily operations of store. Working hours may vary as this is a 24 hour 7 days a week operations, work days may include weekends and holidays. This position requires cross training in both the retail and snack-bar side of the store. Requires the daily balancing of ATM, bank deposits, reconcile sales account receivables and cash control integrity. Must be able to accurately maintain records in order to replenishing TACC safe and accurately record cash paid outs for lottery/lotto accurately reporting to accounting daily sales and change bank with accuracy. Must also be able to forecast adequate level of change for cashiers while maintaining strict cash handling controls on change bank while reporting accurate amount to accounting.
Essential Functions:
· Supervise all aspects of the Store from the curb to store floor complete facility.
· Provide excellent Customer Service.
· Responsible for any necessary discipline of cashiers fully documenting and reporting to store manager as required to foster improvement.
· Must interact favorably with other departments, consultants, vendors, customers and staff.
· Must be able to demonstrate the necessary paper trail for all store sales and labor report to accounting as directed by the store manager/ General Manager.
· Must be well organized and able to provide direction to multiple employees with multiple tasks.
· Assist in the implementing of policies for store and cash operations for cashiers.
· Must also take a leadership role in customer service and maintaining the overall appearance of the store.
· Managers and assistant managers will be responsible to assist with the stocking products both on the shelf and cold storage.
· Will be required to maintain merchandise control and to interact with vendors.
· Inventory control to ensure accurate inventory counts and ordering merchandise will be a vital function of this position. Ability to organize and conduct an accurate and acceptable inventory count.
· Requires ability to re-computing or adjust invoices depending on product that is received in at the time of invoicing must include itemized list and invoicing showing accurate amount due to vendor.
· Must be able to operate POS system/cash register, balance tills, make change for cashiers while keeping accurate records of house accounts/tribal charges.
· Managers/Assistant managers will be required to maintain a clean, organized work areas as well as assist in cleaning other areas of the store.
Qualifications:
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
- Must have at least five years of cash handling experience, service station and/or convenience store experience.
- Must have Supervisory or team leadership experience over at least ten employees.
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Must be dependable.
- Must have good math skills and manual dexterity.
- Must have skills in operating electronic cash register.
- Must have knowledge of Food Stamp Program.
- Must demonstrate friendly, service-oriented and responsible attitude.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions of General Manager.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
Education
- Must have High School Diploma or GED; 4 to 5 years of related experience in a leadership position and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
· Experienced in written and verbal business communications.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals; must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Communicate diplomatically and tactfully with customers, visitors and staff to maintain harmonious relations between staff.
· Experience in solving practical problems and dealing with the a variety of variables in situations where public/customer relations and organizational skills are involved; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and the ability to make independent and valid decisions on purchasing, staffing, inventory and stocking, advertising and promotions and good relations with the tribe and requiring this of all employees.
· Experienced with leading and/or supervising individuals ensuring tasks are completed.
· Must have experience to correctly count money, return change and balance a cash register.
· Experienced computer user including, Microsoft Office & Excel.
Certificates and Licenses:
· Must have valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe insurance plan.
· Must successfully complete Service Station Computer System training online, must complete manager alcohol training online, tobacco sales training online, UST training online complete food handlers course online
Physical Demands:
- Must possess strength and agility to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
· Regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May be required to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision and ability to focus.
· Regularly exposed to desert temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and various temperatures, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration and sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
