BAE Supervisors use advanced knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis to oversee and develop behavior analytic treatment programs. The Supervisor position is designed to combine direct delivery and behavior analytic (“unrestricted”) activities under the supervision of a BCBA Program Manager.
The Supervisor’s direct delivery of behavior treatment allows for implementation of advanced behavioral procedures as a means of (a) introducing new program targets, (b) anticipating the client’s response to the behavior technician implementing the treatment plan, (c) engaging in ongoing behavior analytic assessment, treatment planning, modifying the treatment plan, and providing higher-level parent education within the course of direct intervention, and (d) addressing severe behaviors that require a professional behavior interventionist with advanced knowledge in ABA.
Behavior analytic activities involve the application of Applied Behavior Analysis in a flexible way to accommodate the needs of the client and their support system.
This position requires independent management of Supervisor duties and work schedule, customizing the treatment design for each individual client, ensuring accurate and effective implementation of the treatment plan by behavior technicians, exercising clinical judgment to make ongoing adjustments to treatment plans, and using the scientific analysis of data for informed decision-making.
Position Description:
- Direct case supervision for assigned clients. Case supervision involves directly observing treatment protocols as implemented by behavior technician, parent, or another person. Behavior Skills Training (BST) is used as the approach to train and coach behavior technicians, parents, school team, and identified others to ensure that treatment protocols are implemented as designed. During direct case supervision, the Supervisor monitors treatment integrity and provides feedback and additional training to align treatment protocols across settings and people.
- Assessment and Treatment Planning. Develop and clearly define treatment goals, protocols, and overall treatment plan based on functional behavior assessment and adaptive, developmental, and behavioral skills assessments.
- Analysis data to determine the client’s progress and trends within treatment. Supervisors are responsible for adjusting the treatment protocols based on data analysis.
- Report progress towards treatment goals within biannual treatment summary reports. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring timely submission of progress and assessment reports by the established due dates.
- Promote active parent engagement through ongoing parent education and facilitating monthly parent meetings to review parent priorities, client progress, behaviors, and updates to treatment protocols. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that parents have opportunities to practice and receive feedback on the generalized use of treatment protocols.
- Direct behavior intervention using advanced behavior analytic protocols to maximize the gains for assigned clients within their natural environment(s).
- Document all service activities to include appointment details, what was done during the service, who was present, and how the client responded. Phone conversations, important supervisee information, and any other activity related to BAE clinical services is required to be appropriately documented according to BAE documentation protocols.
