Color Management Pre-Press Specialist
Location: Hackensack, NJ - Full Time On Site Position or Part Time On Site Position
Reports to: Print Manager
We are seeking to add to our Pre-Press Team a highly skilled and detail-oriented Color Specialist to manage color consistency and accuracy across our large format printing operations. The ideal candidate will have significant color experience as well as pre-press experience. We print in house large format dye sublimation, roll to roll printing, and flatbed printing. This role is critical in ensuring the highest quality of printed materials for our clients and maintaining our reputation for excellence.
We need someone who has color management experience. The ideal candidate has experience already, or enough experience that they are ready to take it to the next level of owning delivering on color. We are willing to invest in our employees, including in helping further your color training.
You will join our experienced Pre-Press team based out of our Hackensack NJ facilities. You will pre-flight customer supplied artwork, work with our internal sales team to ensure artwork matches the products ordered, checks the graphic files for a variety of factors (correct sizing, image quality, missing fonts, location of seam lines, and more) and then explains to the customer any changes that are needed. Once the files are ready, you will produce proofs that are sent to our customer for approval.
The Color Management side of the job will require great communication with our internal printing team members. The Pre-Press side of the job will require great communication with our customers, understanding their level of familiarity with graphics will vary. Some customers may not know the terminology, so ensuring you explain any issues in a way they can understand is critical.

We are a small business with a small tight nit office, and a factory 40 feet from where you will be working. This is a great job for an organized person who likes to work, is happy to do data entry, and takes pride in staying organized and keeping up with the daily pace of orders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Color Management: Develop and implement color management processes to ensure color consistency and accuracy across all large format printing platforms, including dye sublimation, roll to roll, and flatbed printing.
- Quality Control: Monitor color output to ensure consistency including ensuring we meet G7 standard where and when applicable. Perform regular quality checks and calibrate equipment as necessary.
- Spot Colors: We are regularly asked to match customer colors. You will be the point person helping our team ensure the color is as close to the desired color as our equipment is capable of producing.
- Pre-Press: Pre-flight graphics for a wide range of projects every day to ensure the graphics are ready to be printed, and if not, explain to the customer in terminology they can understand what needs to be changed. Organization is key as is prompt follow-up.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance color management practices, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends. Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Color Profiling: Develop new color profiles where new media and new applications call for it, as well as relinearizing where needed.
- Training: Train and mentor team members on color management best practices and the use of color calibration tools and software.
Qualifications:
- Required
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of Pre-Press experience, ideally in large format printing, including experience pre-flighting in Adobe Illustrator.
- Color Management: Demonstrated knowledge of color management processes, as well as the ability to build out these processes where and when required.
- RIP Experience: Experience working with color in both Caldera and Onyx preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in color management software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, RIP software, spectrophotometers). Strong understanding of ICC profiles, G7, and color calibration techniques preferred, with willingness and excitement to continue learning.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional eye for color and detail, with the ability to detect and correct subtle color variations.
- Hard Worker & Team Player: We need to add to our in house color expertise, and you will be the point person on color. However, managing Color alone is not a 40 hour per week job in our growing print environment. You will be expected to be an active member of our Pre-Press team.
Full Time vs Part Time – This is an onsite position that requires being in our Hackensack NJ Facility. We prefer Full Time but are open to Part Time for someone with deep color experience. We prefer hiring for Full Time so you can be an core member of our Pre-Press team. If a candidate with the right color experience is interested in a part time job focused on the color management aspects of the, we are open to that option.
Compensation:
