Position Summary:
The Workforce Service Specialist plays a pivotal role in empowering older adults to achieve their employment goals by providing comprehensive support and guidance throughout their job search journey. This dynamic position combines direct client assistance, workshop facilitation, data management, and employer relationship building to optimize employment outcomes for the individuals served.
Primary Responsibilities:

Individualized Case Management: The Workforce Service Specialist manages a caseload of older adults seeking employment, developing and implementing personalized service plans tailored to each individual's unique needs, skills, and aspirations. Through regular follow-ups and assessments, the specialist ensures that the plans remain effective and adjusts them as necessary to maximize success.

Direct Client Assistance: The specialist offers one-on-one support to clients, assisting with essential job search skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and basic computer literacy. By providing personalized guidance and training, the specialist empowers clients to navigate the job market with confidence and competence.

Career Readiness Workshops and Training: Designing and facilitating engaging career readiness workshops is a key aspect of the Workforce Service Specialist's role. These workshops cover a range of topics, from job search strategies to computer literacy, ensuring that clients are well-prepared to pursue their employment goals. The specialist also provides targeted computer literacy sessions to bridge any digital divides and enhance job preparedness.

Needs Assessment and Documentation: The Workforce Service Specialist conducts thorough needs assessments for each client, documenting their employment progress and maintaining detailed records in the participant database. This data-driven approach allows the specialist to identify areas for improvement and refine educational and training strategies to better serve the clients.

Employer Engagement and Partnership: Management Building and maintaining strong relationships with potential employers is crucial to the success of the Workforce Service Specialist's role. The specialist actively identifies and engages with employers whose needs align with the skills and interests of the clients, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships. Additionally, the specialist supports existing employer and program partner relationships, facilitating communication and collaboration to create a robust network of opportunities for the clients.

Administrative Support and Other Duties: The Workforce Service Specialist provides essential administrative support, including assisting with front desk operations, managing member information in the Greenwich House database (PeerPlace), and performing additional tasks and special projects as assigned. The specialist's strong organizational skills and attention to detail ensure smooth operations and effective service delivery.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field.

Experience in career counseling or workforce development.

Proficiency in resume development, interviewing, and job readiness skills is essential.

Strong organizational and case management abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Competency in database management and documentation.

Experience in workshop development and delivery.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic IT skills is required.

Knowledge of workforce issues affecting older adults is highly desirable.
