Reliable Fire & Security, headquartered in Alsip, IL, is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team. Proven leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting, budgeting and cost controls required. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
- Prepare timely Annual Operating Plans and forecast updates
- Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities such as accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, and cost accounting along with the Accounting department members.
- Develop, improve, analyze, and issue timely monthly financial records for the President and Advisory Board of Directors.
- Perform monthly financial close activities including update and maintenance of the General Ledger, analysis of account variances and reporting of results to management
- Coordinate and maintain monthly accruals.
- Perform monthly analysis of general ledger account variances and reconcile changes
- Assist in month-end closing activities, including departmental expenses, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger accrued accounts
- Assist on key efficiency metrics to promote efficiencies
- Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies. Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks seamlessly and with excellent attention to detail.
- Must have a proven ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive data and information. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, customers, and external partners.
- Ensure records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals
- Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
- Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals.
- Provide a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Accounting to all relevant department managers, by creating well-respected and sought-after department goals.
- Must be able to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced highly dynamic environment
- Must be able to demonstrate forward thinking, problem solving, and be able to propose solutions to Executive team.
- Must be extremely proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Accounting Degree is required.
- Five plus years in a senior level finance or accounting position, including supervisory experience.
- CPA license is a plus, but not required.
- Must have high level excel experience.
- Must pass applicable drug screens, background checks and pre-employment tests.
Language and Mathematical Skills:
The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints. Have effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics to the President, executive management and the Advisory Board of Directors.
Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, cash flow, statistical analysis and probability statements. Accounting Manager must use the utmost discretion in all presentations/correspondence and communication with staff.
