Francis T. Bresnahan School Occupational TherapistThe Bresnahan School is a grade PK-3 elementary school located in Newburyport, Massachusetts. We are looking for energetic and experienced educators to join our team.Reports to: Principal Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.Assesses and diagnoses suspected fine motor, attention learning readiness, social/emotion learning readiness, self-care skills, pre-reading/pre-writing readiness, and spatial orientation relationships Evaluates students referred and participates in the deliberations of the IEP Team Collaborates with special services personnel, school personnel, parents and the student, in the preparation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) Plans, prepares and delivers school-based treatment programs for students Provides individual and/or small group intervention sessions with students Provides consultation and training to special and general educators regarding OT and sensory issuesProvides whole class instruction for when appropriateParticipates in integrated therapy provision when appropriateEmploys a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media/technology Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies related to occupational therapy services.
Provides supervision and support to COTAsProvides home assessment when appropriateAssesses on a regular basis the extent to which students achieve the objectives indicated in their Individualized Education Program (IEPs). Provides thorough and timely reports, data, information, etc. as requested by the Director of Pupil Services and administration.RequirementsGraduation from an accredited program of occupational therapy. Certification to practice in Massachusetts as evidenced by current licensure as an occupational therapist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Allied Health Professionals
