Overview:
A California criminal defense firm is expanding in the San Jose/South Bay area. We seek a skilled and experienced criminal defense lawyer familiar with local superior and federal courthouses and their procedures to join our legal team. As a lawyer for our firm, you will be responsible for assisting in the retention of potential new clients, providing legal advice, representing clients in court, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a law firm comprised of experienced California defense attorneys seeking to expand into Northern California.
Duties:
- Conduct legal research and analysis to provide accurate and timely advice to clients
- Draft legal documents and pleadings
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients in court proceedings
- Prepare and present legal arguments in court
- Stay updated on changes in laws
- Maintain confidentiality of client information
- Assist in the retention of clients and provide consultations
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the California Bar and Federal Courts
- Strong knowledge of criminal law and procedures
- Excellent negotiation, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to draft legal documents with precision and attention to detail
- Familiarity with legal administrative tasks, including electronic case management programs
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously

Skills:
- A minimum of three (3) years of criminal defense experience as a practicing defense attorney.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, with the ability to speak to potential new clients in evenings and on weekends
License/Certification:
- California State Bar, Federal Courts
Ability to Commute:
- San Jose, CA and surrounding Bay Area courts
