Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years of hands on experience as an Instrument & Electrical (I&E) technician or I&E specialist installing and maintaining instrument and electrical systems and process control/automation systems (DCS and PLC) in a petrochemical manufacturing facility.
- Experience troubleshooting/commissioning, testing and preventative maintenance practices related to instrument and electrical systems in a petrochemical manufacturing facility.
- Experience with Safety Instrument Systems (SIS) functionality, purpose and implementation.
Job Overview:
- Work directly with the client to develop narrative IPS testing procedures and/or SIS narratives.
- Strong instrumentation background (associate degree in Instrumentation, Electronic Engineering Technology, etc. would be considered a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret PLC logic (ladder, function block, structured text) programs.
- Ability to read and interpret design documents such as P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, schematics.
- Understanding how to read and apply SIS Narratives.
- Prepare supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information. Develop, gather, and disseminate technical information.
- Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation.
- Organize and write supporting documents for products.
- Gather usability feedback from customers, designers.
- Revise documents as new issues arise.
Required Job Skills:
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
- Strong interpersonal skills, and client sensitivity.
- Effective organization skills including the ability to priorities and plan work.
Educational Requirements:
An associate degree in Instrumentation, Electronic Engineering Technology or similar is a huge plus.
Physical Requirements:
- This position is primarily in an office environment. However, field investigation of in-plant piping, civil, structural, or mechanical equipment requires the ability to don personnel protective equipment (PPE) such as flame-retardant clothing (FRC), hart hat, safety eyewear, safety footwear, fall protection harnesses or other specialty PPE. Ability to manipulate office materials and/or equipment and occasionally Lift, Hold/Carry 5-10lbs.

Required Climbing Abilities: To move up or mount stairs and ladders by using the hands or feet as required including, a step stool ladder, 8’ to 10’ ladder, extension ladder and/or stairs of 1-3 or more flights.
