JOB GOAL: Provide instructional support and assistance in meeting the educational needs of students, under the direction and immediate supervision of a licensed school professional.REPORTS TO: Building Administrator; Licensed Teacher; Special Education TeacherEVALUATOR: Building PrincipalQUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalencyCertified as a substitute preferredWill operate under direct supervision of teacher and/or administratorExperience is a school setting and/or educational training preferred but not requiredCPR, First Aid, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training preferred; may be required to obtain during employment for some positionsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support instructional programs and provide instructional assistance for students in individual, small, and large group settings; reinforce lessons initiated by classroom teacher follow up on teachers lesson plansAdministering, scoring, and/or recording assessment informationProgress monitoring studentsImplement approved modifications and/or accommodations of the curriculumCollaborate and communicate with educators and administrators with regard to academic and behavioral issues and observationsProvide suggestions, feedback and support to building staff, administrators, parents and outside agencies regarding effective strategies for facilitating learningAssist licensed staff by helping with data collection, updating records, and documentation while helping maintain student files and class recordsMaintain compliance with confidentiality laws including Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); maintain confidentialityBus and classroom duty assist drivers, teachers, students with adaptive equipment, monitoring physical welfare of student(s) as assignedEscorting students to library, computer room, resource room, lunchroom, etc.May supervise student behavior during daily activities - playground, lunchroom, study hall, field trips, etc.Attend appropriate building meetings, in-services, school functions, and/or trainingsMaintain a good work record/punctualityPerform other duties as assignedTERMS of EMPLOYMENT;Length of Contract Based on student contact days (no additional days)Length of Day 7.5 hours with 30 minute lunch REQUIREMENTS;Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skillsAbility to use proper English grammar, punctuation, and sentence structureAbility to work effectively and cooperatively in a team settingAbility to assist in supporting classroom management systems and reinforcing systemsSitting, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
