The Education Coordinator is responsible for developing and advancing the quality of clinical practice through the management, provision, and coordination of the training activities for clinical providers of the Office of the Medical Director (OMD) for the Harris County ESD #11 Mobile Healthcare System.
This position requires the skills to be an effective leader and the ability to inspire individuals by

team, and encouraging self-development through a leadership example approach. The training
coordinator will work collaboratively with the OMD team to ensure that the System goals are achieved in
accordance to the mission and vision of OMD and the Harris County ESD #11 Mobile Healthcare System.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintains records and tracks new clinical providers within the System for compliance with all training requirements.
- In collaboration with the Development Manager, assist with the New Hire Orientation Program.
- Participates in clinical portion of the hiring process.
- Supervises and evaluates all new hires and transitional employees in all phases of the training process.
- Assist with clinical training of First Responder Organizations (FRO) new hires.
- Assists with the development and delivery of Continuing education content to credentialed field providers.
- Conducts certification courses to ensure credentialing compliance of employees.
- Collaborates with the Education Specialist to ensure all training for clinical providers is completed within a timely manner.
- Exercises independent decision making, problem solving and collaborative skills.
- Evaluates learner performance, provides feedback, develops learner remediation plans.
- Daily contact with confidential medical information requiring knowledge and compliance with current HIPAA laws.
- Collaboratively with OMD team members develop and evaluate clinical improvement plans.
- Assist with Continuing Education (CE) activity development, implementation, and evaluation for the Harris County ESD #11 Mobile Healthcare System
- Collaborates with co-workers, peers, and others to develop innovative educational programs designed to meet the needs of the EMS community and EMS providers.
- Participates in activities that promote the OMD and Harris County ESD #11 Mobile Healthcare organization.
- Assists with writing test questions with rationales for exams.
- Assists with the validation of tests and test questions on a regular basis.
- Stays current on changes, updates and research in the EMS career field and education.
- Assist with other OMD responsibilities and projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
Office and occasional off-site functions. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions; performance of functions in the field may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer and extensive reading. Involves sitting, standing, and walking to a significant degree.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years as an In Charge Paramedic in the Harris County ESD #11 system or at least five years’ experience as a paramedic in a 911 system
- Achieve and maintain Advanced credentialing within Harris County ESD #11 Mobile Healthcare System
- Maintain all relevant instructor card certifications (CPR, ALS, PALS, Trauma, Medical, etc.)
- Knowledge of EMS theory, practice, and trends
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operational procedures
- Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies
- Knowledge of competency based educational principles and methods.
- Ability to adhere to established standards for educational quality.
- Ability to assess individual performance and progress and provide appropriate feedback.
- Be familiar with basic computer applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint
- Mange time appropriately to ensure that all areas of the essential functions are adequately covered.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with online Learning Management Systems
- Must not have been excluded by the OIG to Participate in Federally Funded Heath Care Programs
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree in emergency medical services management, business administration, or other related degree, or equivalent experience
- More than five years or more experience as a paramedic in a high-performance 911 system
- American Heart Association Instructor (BLS, ACLS, PALS)
- Texas Basic or Advanced Course Coordinator certification
- One year of instructional experience in EMS career field
- Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Instructor certification.
