Organist / Choir Director
Job Summary
St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Dorr, Michigan is seeking a part-time Choir Director/Organistto direct and accompany the choir for Holy Mass Sundays at 10:30am and on Holy Days of Obligation. The ideal candidate is a skilled organist and choral director, with cantoring experience and knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy including Gregorian Chant and Polyphony. Expected time commitment is for one Sunday Mass, Holy Days of Obligation and one practice per week. Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and lead music for the Sunday and holy day liturgies on a regular basis.
- Accompany and lead weekly rehearsals of the choir
- Willingness to work with people to train for participation as cantors, and choir members
- Actively seek to recruit choral members
- Provide additional services when necessary for Holy Week, Christmas, Sacraments, Funerals, Weddings, etc.
Job Requirements
- Active member of a Catholic Faith Community
- Degree in music or equivalent experience
- Required: Proficient Piano, Organ, Choral, And Vocal Skills.
- Cantoring experience and knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy
- Knowledge of Gregorian Chant and Polyphony Styles of Music preferred.
Relationship Requirements
- Willingness to work with the Pastor and Choral Members to foster the music ministry of the parish.
- Great Communication, Time Management, And Interpersonal Skills.
