The Human Resources Generalist supports Denali’s vision to become the “go to” ingredient supplier for our customers for innovative products and solutions. This position reports to the Supervisor, Human Resources with primary responsibility for Absence Management, recruitment, and COVID-19 process.
The Human Resources Generalist will also serve as support in some or all the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, affirmative action and employment equity program, benefits management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. This candidate must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Administer Absence Management, Recruiting, and COVID-19 Process.
- Manage College recruitment and internship process.
- Manage Recruiting process by scheduling interviews, offers and scheduling pre-employment medical appointments.
- Administers corporate COVID-19 process in accordance with the Corporate COVID Committee.
- Assist with production employee presentations during annual open enrollment period in 4th quarter of each year. Arrange for distribution of plan summary materials and required notices, assist with communicating changes to employees and arrange for onsite representation by providers. Process changes within deadlines.
- Strive to ensure employee understanding of all HR benefits programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise. Resolve employee complaints related to health and welfare plans, refer difficult or very complex complaints to manager as needed.
- Administer company communications through Paylocity and on company Televisions throughout all plants.
- Coordinate and assist with the ACA and ERISA benefits reporting requirements.
- Conduct new-employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of policies & benefits plans and enrollment provisions. Counsel employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefits decisions.
- Act as a back-up resource for payroll/HR contacts to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefits and HR policies and regulations. Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.
- Assist Operations in response to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints and investigations.
- Assist Operations with production employee’s performance reviews.
- Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
- Represents the company in unemployment claims.
- Assist with preparation of the annual affirmative action plan.
- Perform outreach to community sources as needed.
- Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s degree and 1 – 2 years of experience preferred;
· Or 2 years of college and 3 – 5 years of progressively responsible related experience;
