Wiskerchen Cheese is looking to add a Maintenance Technician to our team. The selected candidate would have the option of working four 10-hour shifts a week or five 8-hour shifts. Our techs perform maintenance tasks of great variety such as lubricating machinery, changing parts, or performing other routine machinery maintenance. Other duties could include painting, HVAC installations, landscaping etc. A Maintenance Technician is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all safety guidelines. The goal is to maintain the equipment and building in the best possible condition.
Responsibilities/Requirements Include:
- Assist and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with Wiskerchen Cheese Inc. preventative maintenance program
- Change air filters in accordance with Wiskerchen Cheese Inc.
- Assist and perform emergency maintenance on all equipment in accordance with departmental needs
- Troubleshooting with plant management regarding equipment issues/concerns and breakdowns
- Maintain inventory of, paints, epoxies, grease, and other materials needed to keep equipment running
- Fill out departmental paperwork
- Assist with cleaning and sanitation of departments in accordance with Wiskerchen Cheese Inc. cleaning schedule
- Assist with equipment tear downs to facilitate cleaning and sanitation
- Schedule and work with contractors and technician's on projects and machinery within the facility
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Management
- Perform corrective actions as required by Quality Assurance
Qualifications
- Mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot and perform complex repairs and machine adjustments
- Ability to locate, read, understand and apply information from equipment manuals
- Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and independently take appropriate corrective action to
- prevent component failures and equipment down time within the scope of the electrical and mechanical skills listed above
- Proficient skill and knowledge of multiple voltage/ phase electrical systems and motors
- Ability to safety use electrical test instruments such as continuity tester, ampere meter and voltage tester
- Understand and obey all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Understand and obey all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Proper safety (PPE) must be worn at all times to ensure a safe working environment
- Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years related maintenance experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience or training
- Food/dairy/manufacturing experience an asset
- Good hand-eye coordination
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to climb, crouch, stand, and walk continuously
- Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
- Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
- Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
- Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
- Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
- Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
- Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Remove hardened material from machines or machine parts, using abrasives, power and hand tools, jackhammers, sledgehammers, or other equipment.
- Set up and operate machines, and adjust controls to regulate operations.
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
- Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
