Director of Finance & Human Resources (Bend)
DENT Instruments is a growing, 35+ year technology company in Bend with global reach via the Bemsiq Group, that acquired DENT Instruments in late 2023. A leader in the energy information “green” sector, DENT manufactures energy metering and measurement equipment for customers all over the world and includes in our client list small electrical shops and Fortune 100 companies.
The Director of Finance and Human Resources (HR) position is member of the management team, accountable for the finance, accounting, and human resources of DENT Instruments. The role serves as an individual contributor responsible for the accurate and timely production of financial reports for the international shareholder, board of directors, and the internal management team. S/he creates and maintains appropriate controls designed to mitigate risk, maximize shareholder return, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and international financial reporting standards.
In addition to the financial and accounting aspects of the role, the Director of Finance and HR creates the employee engagement and benefits strategy for the company. The individual manages payroll, recruitment, employee benefits, and team development to create a positive culture in service of becoming employer of choice in Bend, OR.
Essential Functions
The overall duties of being a manager, within defined areas of responsibility, include to prepare/plan, manage/organize, champion/lead and supervise/control, with a strong focus on cost efficiency, result and continuous improvements.
- As a member of the DENT Instruments management team, act as a leader, role model and representative for the whole company; engage and contribute in the strategic, tactical, and operational management of the company, DENT Instruments, and interact and participate with the Bemsiq group.
- Manage accounting operations to ensure a 6-day financial reporting close mandated by international shareholder; reconciles accounting data among 3 or more financial reporting systems, currently SAP, Aaro, and Bright Analytics platforms.
Responsible for the annual budget process, including initial creation through a top-down and bottom-up process, at least 2 annual revisions for the shareholder, and regular analysis and reporting of actual versus budget expectations for multiple audiences.
Support management and organization with data and insight to make business decisions.
Maintain system of accounting records and controls to mitigate risk, maximize shareholder return, and ensure accuracy reported financial results that comply with GAAP and shareholder expectations.
Create processes to efficiently and effectively manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable inventory aging, cash flow, and supervise staff or complete activities individually to execute such processes.
Drive HR actions like recruitment, organizational development, training, HR-issues, talent reviews, health & safety, processes for salary updates and performance reviews
Administer payroll accurately and timely, including regular updates to employee records and benefit selection and maintaining accurate employee records in HR system, currently Paylocity.
Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings/payments.
Create policy for company benefits including Health/Dental Insurance, FSA plan, 401k, and Paid Time Off, and administer the entire benefit program.
Advise management team on employee relations and design employee initiatives with management to create a positive culture at the company, including recruitment and retention.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other appropriate discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior finance role in management
- 3+ years’ experience in a HR role with experience managing benefit plans and HR programs.
- Manufacturing and international experience a plus
