Infrastructure Engineer

This position will be reporting to the Infrastructure Manager. Successful candidate will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. From early on, the systems administrator will empower breakthrough innovations, take on challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and be responsible for results. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining both remote work and in-office presence. Candidates should be comfortable with a flexible schedule that includes working both from home and in the office as needed.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing and maintaining VMware and Cisco clusters, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of virtualized environments and network infrastructure to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
- Manage and maintain network storage infrastructure, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of storage systems to ensure data availability, integrity, and performance. Developing monitoring and alerting solutions for infrastructure, ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of systems.
- Perform server administration tasks, including configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of servers. Additionally, manage user accounts, permissions, and access control to ensure secure and efficient system operation. Providing customer support for WFS internal applications
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of server backups, including regular scheduling, verification, and restoration procedures to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness. Provide application support for WFS and off-shore developers
- Participate in in-house application deployments, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation, configuration, and testing of applications within the organization's infrastructure. Develop, manage and contribute scripts to automate various infrastructure repetitive tasks
- Managing and maintaining inventory and rack elevation documentation for data centers, including tracking hardware assets, updating rack layouts, and ensuring accurate documentation of equipment placement and connectivity.
- Provide operational support, including participation in an on-call rotation, to deliver tier 1 to tier 3 incident response and resolution. Responsibilities include promptly addressing and resolving system incidents, performing troubleshooting, and escalating issues as necessary to ensure uninterrupted system functionality and optimal performance.
Required skills and qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies and hyperconverged environments, including significant exposure to Cisco HyperFlex. Demonstrated expertise in deploying, configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting VMware infrastructure and hyperconverged solutions
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux operating system and its downstream distributions, including CentOS and Oracle Linux. Demonstrated expertise in administering, configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing Linux-based systems in enterprise environments.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with shell scripting, utilizing either Bash or Python. Demonstrated proficiency in writing, maintaining, and optimizing shell scripts to automate system administration tasks, streamline workflows, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with Windows Servers.
At least 2 years of practical experience with cloud platforms, with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Extensive background (5+ years) in storage management, including provisioning, optimization, and maintenance of storage systems.
- Proven track record (5+ years) in managing and maintaining data centers, encompassing infrastructure operations, equipment deployment, and facility management.
- Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model and its relevance to network architecture and communication protocols
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science
- Redhat Certified System Administrator and/or Engineer
- Experience and proficiency in automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins. Demonstrated ability to utilize these tools to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds
PAY RATE:
- $90,000 to $120,000 per year
- The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
