Job Summary
Atlas is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Duluth, GA. Under limited supervision, performs advanced level engineering analysis, design, and review for geotechnical including environmental site assessment work. Job requires application of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices and methods sufficient to perform a broad range of geotechnical engineering activities for road and bridge design and field operations.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Functioning as a Lead Reviewer, will perform the following:
- Reviews consultant prepared engineering reports.
- Prepares initial geotechnical engineering reports including:
- Bridge Foundation Investigations using ASD (Allowable Stress Design) and LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design).
- Wall Foundation Investigations using ASD and LRFD.
- Soil Survey Summaries.
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) BMP Infiltration reports.
- Other reports such as Culvert Foundation Investigations, High Mast Lighting Foundation Investigations, PDA (Pile Driving Analyzer) reports, WEAP (Wave Equation Analysis Program) reports, etc.
Oversees and plans drilling and sampling work for transportation projects, review and analyze lab and field test results in conjunction with design requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from a university with a degree in Civil Engineering or from a four-year college with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Graduation from a university with a degree in Geology.
- Minimum 8 years of geotechnical and environmental site assessment experience.
- Georgia licensed Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with others in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to reason and make sound, well-informed decisions.
- Ability to apply innovative solutions in solving problems.
- Ability to research, gather and organize information into a presentable understandable format.
- Displays high standards of ethical conduct and understands the impact of violating these standards on an organization, self and others.
- Working level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Committed to providing quality customer service.
Technical Requirements:
- Knowledge of specifications and standards, design and construction practices, materials, methods, and equipment used in geotechnical engineering.
Thorough knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric calculations related to bridge/highway/transportation engineering.
Ability to read and comprehend bridge and roadway plans and geotechnical engineering reports associated with a project.
