Guardian is in search of a unique candidate(s) that has a passion for designing, programming, and commissioning industrial electrical control systems while working with multiple customers across various industries. This candidate will be joining our team of talented engineers and technicians as we aim to deliver automation solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations. This position requires a rather broad background in the controls engineering field. A “jack of all trades and master of a few” person with a passion for problem solving and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control systems for various industrial processes.
- Perform calculations to design and size various components, including, but not limited to, pumps, valves, chillers/heat exchangers, as well as electrical components e.g., breakers, transformers, VFD’s.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of control systems to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Create control system documentation (manuals, test procedures, etc.)
- Interface with customers in a professional manner
- Identify potential operational issues and assist with continuous improvements.
Requirements and Skills
- Must be US Citizen or have Permanent Residency of the USA
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field or related work experience.
- Prefer 3+ years’ experience with PLC programming – including ladder logic, function block, and structured text (additional programming language skills a plus)
- HMI/SCADA network programming experience
- Familiarity with sizing and thermal analysis of chillers and heat exchangers
- Familiarity preforming pressure drop calculations for compressible and incompressible fluid to be used in system design.
- Knowledge of integrated control system components including (but not limited too):
o Power Supplies
o Transformers
o Motor Centers/VFD/Soft Starters
o Contactors/Relays
o Servo/Stepper Motors
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and P&IDs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
