Position: ELL Adjunct Professor
Job Type: Part-time (adjunct)
JOB GOAL:
To advance ELL students’ competency and confidence in reading, writing, and speaking.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The instructor is responsible for teaching ELL courses to students enrolled in Monroe’s Ease program. The Ease program is designed for high beginner to high intermediate ELL instruction and provides enrolled students with non-credit, intensive classes. Ease students are also able to take credited, major-specific classes, while their Ease classes are designed to do just that: ease them into college-level English competency. In this program focus is placed on improving the reading, writing, and speaking of our ELL students.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess students’ current levels of English competency
- Augment templated syllabi to design and teach rigorous and engaging ELL classes
- Collaborate with the English Department and fellow instructors to improve curriculum
- Take accurate attendance via Monroe’s attendance system
- Turn final grades in on time
- Respond in a timely matter to communications and requests from program director

- Use computer systems for word processing, attendance, designing content, and entering grades
- Create a welcoming environment that supports and nurtures people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
o Prior experience teaching ESL, certification in ELL, or TESOL certification preferred.

Pay: $60.00 - $90.00 per hour
