In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Mechanic is responsible for maintaining generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating, sterilizing, laundry use, supplying power to machinery and auxiliary equipment under broad supervision. Monitors equipment for safety and/or emergency situations. Assists mechanics in repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment. Performs plumbing and general labor in accordance with instructions from the maintenance manager. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:

Implements work orders given by the maintenance manager for preventative maintenance of equipment and machinery.

Performs a variety of routine standard servicing and repair operations.

Performs furniture repairs and other carpentry work.

Must actively pursue required hours and education to achieve high pressure boiler license.

Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
-
High School Degree, GED or equivalent.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
-
Basic understanding of facility maintenance/repair.
-
Ability to follow instructions.
-
Routine tasks require climbing, kneeling, walking, reaching for and handling of tools and equipment parts.
-
Near visual acuity is necessary for reading of various specifications.
-
Work is medium, involving lifting and carrying of objects.
-
Subject to noise from machinery and electrical shock or burns from heated equipment.
-
Occasionally works in extreme heat or cold.
-
Knowledge on the use of saws, welders, drills, truck and electric testers.
Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
