Position Summary: Provide assistance to the clinical team with vascular procedures within the vascular center. As a member of our team, you will interact with patients, physicians and dialysis facilities as part of our community educational program and also participate in other educational outreach initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures
- Perform ultrasound imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics
- Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
- Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
- Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
- Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including nuclear medicine and sonography
- Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
- Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
- Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
- Completes forms and maintains records, logs and reports of work performed
- Monitor patients during procedures, operating a C-Arm (within the scope of practice)
- Prepares equipment which includes cleaning and sterilizing instruments, maintain inventory of medical supplies

- Must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform all vascular ultrasound procedures
- Must have excellent customer service oriented and provide outstanding customer service to patients, physicians, visitors and co-workers
- Must demonstrate understanding of patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by Preferred Vascular Group.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required; Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology (CV) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology certification preferred.
- Minimum two years experience in interventional radiology, special procedures, cardiac cath lab or general diagnostic preferred
- Knowledge of sterile technique
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
Education/Experience:
Associates of Science degree or successful completion of a formal educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT.
