Must know how to cook! Short order cooks will need to read orders, understand instruction and talk to their fellow cooks to make sure the food is delivered hot, delicious and at the same time. Also, knowing when food has gone bad and understanding proper seasoning. Short order cooks need to be able to stand on your feet for long periods and lift heavy objects from storage. They will need to be able to work as a team to create a great experience for customers.
COOK DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cooking order according to food health and safety standards.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
- Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work stations; keeping grill clean
- Plan work on orders so that items served together are finished at the same time.
- Preparing ingredients for shift; washing vegetables, patty burgers, etc.
- Handling multiple food orders at one time
- Monitoring multiple food orders as new orders arrive
- Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides
- Delivering food order to cashier in a timely manner
- Storing all food properly
- Sanitizing and cleaning work stations and utensils
- Managing and conducting inventory on stock and food supplies
- Monitoring other cooks and team members
- Assisting other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed
SHORT ORDER COOK REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- MUST have flat grill experience cooking with different temperatures
- Previous experience as a short order cook
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Physical endurance to stand for entire shift
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
- Able to quickly memorize complex or multiple orders
- High school degree or equivalent
- Able to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
- able to bend, move, and lift up to 25 pounds or more
- Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to lift up to 25 pounds or more
- Able to read and write
