Legal Secretary with experience to undertake a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. You will work under the supervision of two attorneys and a paralegal and will also provide support in assigned legal cases.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing administrative support to one or more lawyers and paralegal; effectively communicating with witnesses, clients, colleagues and partners; greeting visitors and performing initial screening of clients; typing of all dictation including correspondence, case briefs, synopses of depositions, wills, and testimony; producing and filing various legal documents such as appeals, motions or petitions; preserving an updated case record system and legal calendar; answering phone calls, taking notes/messages and redirecting calls when appropriate; maintaining and updating inventories of contact details; facilitating the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and providing timely reminders, as well as any other assistance needed with case management and office maintenance.
Requirements and skills:
Requirement and skills including but are not limited to being available to work from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Proven experience as a Litigation Legal Secretary (at least two years’ experience); knowledge of legal terminology, legal rules and regulations, electronic case filing, and an overall knowledge of the court system.
Knowledge of MS Office and the ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, transcription software, dictation equipment etc).
Working knowledge of litigation management software.
Proficiency in English and accuracy in typing including proofreading of all documentation produced.
Outstanding time-management and typing skills.
Ability to multitask and being comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of clients.
