- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging instructional activities using IHS’s competency-based education model, as well as frequent integration of literacy and the arts
- Develop course plans and syllabi using the IHS templates
- Design culturally relevant and engaging curriculum that is aligned to the YCCS Competency Based Learning for a blended model
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs using IHS’ AC3 model
- Use relevant technology to support and enhance instructional outcomes
- Administer standards-based classroom assessments and utilize assessment data to inform instruction
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development and provide students with regular feedback
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing IHS rules and procedures emphasizing a restorative approach
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
- Serve as an advisor and implement advising curriculum using SEL and trauma based strategies and new certification program
- Participate in professional learning community meetings, parent meetings, and behavior intervention meetings
- Serve on student portfolio panels and IEP meetings when necessary
- Participate in weekly academy meeting to identify students who require outreach and/or support
- Conduct daily outreach (by phone call, email, text, or best method of contact for each student or parent)
- Maintain certification records using the IBSE ELIS Educator Certification System and notify administration of any changes to certification
- Teaching experience preferred
- Experience in working with urban, at-risk youth
