Position Overview:
The Legal Assistant reports directly to his or her assigned attorney and is trained and specialized to support the attorney in litigating cases effectively by creating and maintaining digital case files, managing the attorney’s schedule, creating and writing the first draft of documents.
Essential Job Functions

Keep cases organized by creating a digital file system and maintaining the digital file system

Schedule all events on the attorney’s calendar
-
Schedule and manage a task list of all the attorney’s deadlines
-
Draft and file clerical documents, such as all notices, stipulations, orders, summons, etc.

Prepare the first draft of documents, such as pleadings, motions to compel, motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, releases, etc.

Review, prepare, and file court documents for the attorney

Prepare legal correspondence and documents to be issued to counsel and court
-
Review, prepare, and provide folders for attorney’s events, such as hearings, depositions/examinations under oath, mediations, meetings, trials, etc.

Verbally communicate with law firms, witnesses, experts, the judiciary, court reporting firms, interpreting firms, printing firms, etc.

communicate with various internal departments, such as accounting, claims, SIU, underwriting, etc.

Meet legal assistant’s deadlines to assist the attorney’s deadlines

Input billing for daily activity

Requirements

Legal Assistants skills for litigation, including an understanding of the rules of procedures

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook and Adobe
