RESPONSIBILITIES: The Clinical Therapist provides professional guidance and direction to maintain and improve the quality of the service delivery in effectively meeting the needs of the participants in placement at New Day group homes. This position requires the ability to manage time and work schedules effectively. Maintain the goals and objectives of New Day, Inc. and communicate to the Administrator while ensuring compliance with state licensing codes and federal standards. It may be necessary to work occasionally evenings and weekends. Additional duties may be assigned.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
1. INTENSIVE LEVEL OF CARE
A. Maintain case management of a caseload of up to 12 participants using active treatment principles.
B. Act as Treatment Team Leader for weekly internal staff meetings.
C. Ensure that each resident receives 75 minutes of therapy and 75 minutes of therapeutic intervention services per week. Individual therapy must be provided at least 50 minutes out of the required 75 minutes per week and family therapy must be provided to the youth and biological, adoptive, or foster family members with whom the youth previously resided or plans to reside with upon discharge. If family therapy is not appropriate based on the particular situation of the youth, the lead clinical staff shall document specific reasons why family therapy cannot be provided.
D. Follow Progress Notes Policy for documentation guidelines. Therapy sessions and therapeutic intervention must address the youth's treatment goals and objectives in the treatment plan and each session must be documented in the case record by the lead clinical staff.
2. Complete clinical assessment within 10 business days of the youth's admission.
3. Develop and complete Individual Case Plans/ Master Treatment Plans on each participant. Master Treatment Plans must be reviewed and updated at least every 30 days. A copy of the treatment plan must be provided to the youth's placing agency and custodial parent or guardian within 10 business days of plans development. Ensure Discharge Summaries are completed within 10 business days, ensuring a continuum of care is in place for participants and family. 4. Develop and submit in a timely manner “Continuation of Stays” for participants meeting the medical
criteria for stay at the therapeutic group home level of care.
5. Oversee therapeutic infrastructure of group home as well as maintains organizational structure within the group homes and delegates responsibilities to assigned Program Managers, Lead Youth Care Specialists, and/or Youth Care Specialists. Serves as liaison between administration/business office and the group homes. Report directly to supervisor. Attend clinical
meetings.
6. Complete quarterly chart audits under the direction of Quality Assurance or Clinical Director.
7. Other duties as assigned by New Day, Inc. administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Lead Clinical Staff supervise the position of Program Managers in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. The Lead Clinical Staff is responsible for the supervision and overall provision of the treatment services to the youth in the therapeutic group home.
Qualifications: The requirement listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: A minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social work, counseling or psychology, as well as management and extensive experience working with troubled youth, families, and the subsequent development of the emotional problems by displaced/dysfunctional youth. Effective July 1, 2012, the LCS must be a licensed clinical psychologist, licensed master level social worker (MSW), or licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). The LCS can be an in-training mental health professional. Familiarity with word processing and computer concepts. Ability to perform managerial and training functions efficiently and within established time frames. Able to maintain high degree of confidentiality and exhibit diplomacy and tact.
