Job Summary:
The Quality Packaging Technician is responsible for Quality Control duties that occur during the clarification and packaging stages of production and analytical and micro support on Sundays. This position will be (Sun-Thurs) swing shift with a 1:30pm-9:00pm schedule. With an option for an earlier start time on Sundays and days production is not running or is ending early. You may be required to work another shift to cover leaves, absences or help cover shifts for cross training purposes within the department.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

Complete BBT release testing (AE, alcohol, color, pH, micro, CO2, nitrogen, DO, and filter volume verification)
- Troubleshoot out of spec BBT results and work with cellar team to correct

Complete package testing ( CO2, TPO, DO, HSO, AE, alcohol, density, pH, bottle fill heights, crimp checks, secure seal testing, seam checks on cans, nitro testing, keg testing)

Library, sensory and micro sample collection on bottle, can and keg lines.

Routine package line walkthrough for packaging integrity

Address and troubleshoot any out of spec results on packaging lines

Run Rotech keg on keg lanes

Manage product holds and retests when applicable

Data entry into the QC LIMS database

Maintain a clean & safe working environment

Understand the safety hazards associated with your tasks and utilize the appropriate personal protective equipment
-
Maintenance and cleaning of all QC equipment including such as: Alcolyzer, Gehaltometer, Hach 6110, C-Box, Seam Check Station

Micro plating and media preparation
-
Analytical testing for weekend support (VDK, BU, Turbidity, AE, OG, Alcohol)
- Complete all initial and on-going assigned safety training

Cross train in other lab areas on down production days

All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
-
Degree in microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or food sciences or at least 2 years of prior experience in a production environment

Practical knowledge of brewhouse, cellar, and packaging processes/operations is a plus, not required

Attention to detail, ability to produce accurate, precise and reproducible data

Flexibility in shift schedule

Understanding of scientific principles for quality control and quality assurance

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
-
Familiar with standard laboratory instrumentation; pH meters, spectrophotometer, GC, centrifuges, autoclave, microscope, etc.
- Ability to operate in a team environment and ability to manage multiple tasks

Ability to operate and use a PC computer, proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs
