Position Summary:
As a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) at Village Super Markets, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the company maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. The HRBP is crucial in safeguarding the organization from legal risks and fostering a compliant, inclusive, and productive work environment.
The HRBP will provide vital support to Store Managers, Area Leads, and Support Staff, addressing the specific needs of the business. Some responsibilities will include identifying and resolving HR-related problems, offering constructive feedback, and serving as a trusted advisor on various human resources matters. Additionally, the HRBP will be instrumental in the recruitment process, interviewing, and selection of new associates to fill vacant positions. The HRBP will also encompass supporting the onboarding process for Assistant Store Managers and higher-level positions, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the company.
The HRBP contributions are essential in maintaining a positive and effective workplace culture, driving organizational success, and ensuring that Village Super Markets remains a great place to work.
Key Responsibilities of this role:
● Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
● Support compliance efforts including Axonify, new hire processes, and performance reviews.
● Provide assistance and guidance in the recruiting, interviewing, and selection process of new associates to fill vacant positions. Support the onboarding of Assistant Store Managers and above.
● Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
● May conduct investigations and recommend solutions on harassment, workplace violence, and discrimination complaints in a union environment.
● Handle employee relations counseling, discipline, and termination meetings, and exit interviewing for the assigned geography.
● Timely response to associates' issues.
● Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management.
● Help shape and monitor the career-pathing program, New To Role training, developing associates to assist in succession planning.
● Evaluates and monitors strategic initiatives to ensure success, including development, engagement, and succession planning.
● May be asked to conduct training programs in the assigned geography.
● Assist Store Managers, Area Leads, and Support Staff by supporting the needs of the business, identifying and resolving problems, and providing feedback.
● Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
● Conduct Store Walks for HR Talent Planning Engagement.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills Required
● Experience with federal, local and state labor laws for area of regional responsibility.
● A bachelor’s degree in any field, plus at least 3 years of HR generalist experience.
● Must have ability to keep information confidential and handle situations appropriately
● Knowledge of HR fundamentals such as benefits, compensation, staffing, employee relations, labor relations, diversity and inclusion, training and development.
● Demonstrated ability to apply employment law to workplace issues.
● Demonstrated experience in applying performance management practices.
● Demonstrated ability to consult effectively and independently with all levels of a diverse organization
● Strong communication and analytical skills.
● Ability to work in a team environment while managing and executing tasks with multiple conflicting priorities.
● Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
● Ability to Travel is required for this position
● SHRM certification is a plus.

● Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
● Ability to regularly travel to multiple retail locations as needed.
● Job requires the ability to work in an office and retail environment with frequent sitting, standing, and walking as necessary.
● May occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
● Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
● Ability to tolerate refrigerated temperatures.
