The Automation Controls Technician will develop robust customized industrial automation solutions for manufacturing and testing with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
Job Duties:
- Evaluate opportunities for automation to establish requirements
- Develop a plan (BOM, time schedule) for controls implementation
- Build and install control panel, sensors, actuators, and safety devices (e.g. guarding, light curtains, opto-touch)
- Program Robots, PLC, and HMI as required
- Work with cross-functional teams including production, engineers, and tool makers to integrate automation solutions into a complete machine package
- Document logic sequence, schematics, and project information that can be read by others
- Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
- Develop enhancements and improvements to existing machines
- Participate in automation/machine development projects from outside suppliers
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Required skills:
- Safety best practices and equipment
- Fanuc Robot, Allen-Bradley PLC, and HMI logic and programming
- Setup machine network connectivity (ethernet, IP, subnet) for remote monitoring
- Knowledge of a variety of industrial equipment including industrial robots, hydraulics, pneumatics, relays, sensors, cylinders, drives, motors, pumps
- Test equipment and laser marking integration
- Organizational skills to implement projects based on priorities
- Excellent communications skills to learn and share
Minimum requirements:
- 2-year technical degree, preferred
- 10 years of experience in industrial automation
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
- Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
