JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Mechanic’s primary responsibility is to perform mechanical maintenance on plant industrial equipment. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining, fabricating, and documenting plant process equipment. Strives to enhance knowledge of process equipment and associated support systems. Ensures work is captured in the SAP maintenance module system. Participates in plant safety, environmental, and production programs, including improvement teams.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates, schedules, and completes all assigned work orders and PM inspections, in cooperation with operations, electrical, instrumentation, and contractor personnel on all maintenance activities.
- Ability to identify existing or imminent mechanical failure mechanisms through knowledge of plant equipment and processes.
- Ability to analyze current equipment and process operating conditions and make adjustments to allow for maximizing plant efficiency and hardware life.
- Ability to understand and perform maintenance requirements to successfully complete preventative maintenance or repairs to plant process equipment.
- Inputs information into SAP maintenance system to record accomplishments and document repair.
- Participates and acts as a system matter expert for all aspects of plant maintenance and equipment during root cause analysis (RCA), and process safety management (PSM) requirements.
- Supports environmental and safety program initiatives and improvements.
- Contributes appropriate subject matter expertise to the Maintenance and Engineering departments to support maintenance, engineering, and capital project initiatives.
- Build maintenance and equipment technical data for updating and maintaining equipment files.
- Develop and maintain inventory of essential maintenance materials and critical equipment spare parts.
- Interact with vendors in getting parts identified properly for ordering and delivery.
- Gain an intimate understanding of plant processes and process variables.
- Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor for troubleshooting, maintenance, and engineering activities.
- Models excellence in EHS, Housekeeping, Leadership, and ensures EHS compliance at all times.
- Models team behavior; works well with others.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills; learns quickly and is detail-oriented.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Must have five years of maintenance manufacturing or related experience.
- Strong technical understanding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well and communicate in a timely manner with staff at all company levels.
- Ability to navigate computer maintenance management system (CMMS) operations, preferably experience with SAP.
- Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine, and process drawings (P&ID, PFD, and Isometrics).
- Welding certification (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW) is desired.
- Must have or meet requirements for a TWIC card.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED

- Walking, driving, standing, lifting 55 pounds repeatedly, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing.
- Ability to enter confined spaces and wear a respirator.
