Scope of the Position: Because of the life experiences and trauma histories that our youth present with, employees must not only provide adequate safety and supervision, but must be actively engaged in the process of building relationships, understanding and solving problems as part of a team, and must offer energy, safety and commitment in their work with our youth through genuine, caring and empathetic engagement. The residential programs work closely with clinical teams and support family treatment and involvement by providing facilitation, supervision, and support for visits and family connections with parents, relatives and other significant people in the lives of our youth.
Job Statement: Responsible for the overall quality assurance and operations of residential programs. Ensure the highest quality of care to Brandon youth and families by creating an environment which is safe, respectful, and positive.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure exceptional residential services in the programs by spending consistent time in each milieu TEACHING, GUIDING, and SUPPORTING the team as they implement TCI and CARE.
- Implement and maintain systems in which the program routine and structure is outlined week to week
- Constructively challenge teams to think outside the box when implementing activities for their youth and families. Help the teams find purpose, make even the most mundane activity have meaning and be fun, and ensure staff are involved in the process. TEACH the staff to be role models and be engaged.
- Find more creative ways to include families in the programs
- Provide weekly supervision to employees in the program.
- Provide oversight of staff schedule matters.
- Provide oversight of youth crisis situations and ensure appropriate crisis interventions are implemented.
- Facilitate required, non-certification annual trainings as required and ensure all staff members are meeting annual training requirements.
- Ensure utilization of all safety measures to include completing evacuation and lock down drills and utilizing and accounting for radio devices.
- Ensure Floor Plan Books and weekly house schedules are completed thoroughly and thoughtfully and are carried out with consistency.
- Provide a safe, nurturing, caring atmosphere for youth who reside in the residence.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, treatment team, consults, managers meeting, and required trainings as scheduled.
- Demonstrates an understanding of child development relevant to the age group of the residence worked in.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the actual developmental levels of youth in the residence, and intervenes to promote development and adjusts expectations according to development level.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of family/kinship connections to youth in our residence and supports those connections by welcoming parents, relatives, and caregivers on visits and facilitating planned contacts with families in the program, the community, and the family/relative home.
- Demonstrates an ability to form and maintain positive, nurturing relationships with youth by building trust and supporting competencies through interest and active engagement.
- Demonstrates the ability to teach and support the learning of a broad range of skills including those related to: Emotional regulation, age appropriate activities and competencies, and living in a home-like setting.
- Plan and actively participate in activities to support and increase skills and competencies.
- Demonstrates an empathic understanding of complex trauma and its effects including abuse, loss, and neglect that youth bring to placement. Incorporating that understanding in interactions with youth with therapeutic responses to pain based behavior.
- Demonstrates an awareness of the physical and emotional environment by contributing to the residence being a place that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, appropriately engaging and stimulating, which fosters growth and resilience.
- Support routines of youth through assisting and supervising wake-up, bedtime, personal care routines, completion of chores and laundry, meals, meal preparation, recreational activities, homework supervision and assistance.
- Work as part of a team to identify needs and strategies to meet those needs.
- Document planned interventions, behavior incidents, and general observation of youth and assessment of their skills, behavior, and moods in an objective and professional manner and ensure the residential team members are all utilizing communication resources at Brandon.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and role in individual youth treatment plans, including their assessment, particular needs, behavioral goals, and identified intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience working in human services/mental health field with supervisory experience, experience overseeing program operations
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- DCF Medication Administration Certification (MAP), First Aid, CPR, and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Certification are required to be successfully completed before the end of the 90 day new employee probation period and are required to be maintained throughout employment.
- Must have a valid MA driver’s license and DEEC CORI/DCF background check
- Physical demands: Ability to participate with active youth, including physical interventions and care for program facilities and equipment.
- Mental demands: Work well as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries while providing nurturing care to youth in homelike settings. Emotional impact of working with traumatized youth.
Job Type: Full time: Monday-Friday 2pm to 10pm (Flexible on some days 12pm-8pm)
