What You Will Do
- Thoroughly analyze outpatient and/or inpatient records
- Identify all diagnoses and procedures and assign the appropriate codes from the latest revisions of the International Classification of Diseases and Current Procedural Terminology
- Establish regular communication with the medical staff and other hospital department
- Perform the data entry function for the computer abstracts in both the encoder system and the hospital information system
What You Need
- At least 1 year relevant outpatient ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT coding or recent graduates from a coding and/or billing school preferred
- Knowledge and experience of E/M levels and outpatient surgery with CPT procedure coding a plus. A CCA or CCS certification preferred but will consider training the right candidate who has an excellent grasp of medical terminology
- This person will be expected to work from the office for at least the first six months, with an option to flex from home occasionally after six months depending on skill level
- Teamwork is essential on this team in this HIM department
- High school diploma or equivalent required
